Hi Marko,
Andreas

I have read a number of other books since I finished Fields of Fire and just went back and reread the final chapter. Like a lot of your other readers, I relate to both Andrew and Halley. I went through the U.S. Army basic combat training, flew attack helicopters in Vietnam as a Warrant Officer, spent a few years as an instructor, took a direct commission in the Infantry and spent 5 years as an Infantry Officer during the Cold War (including some time in Bamberg, Germany which I fell in love with). What you’re telling, Marko, is a soldier’s story and I appreciate it more than I can say. Wish more people could read it. That being said, I’m really tired of these Lanky pukes and am ready to go downtown Lankyville and put an end to these a-holes once and for all. Maybe find some friendly aliens in the process. Great job, my friend. Keep up the good work.
Is there any way you can inform us when a new book is released?
I just suggested to the San Mateo County Library System that they carry your works. We have about 33 libraries in county and they usually buy to stock all of them. Hope they do and you see a good bump!
Thanks for writing.
Hello,
So first I came on here to collect some info on the series and see if we are getting another book.
But I want to point out something.
Your website Picture is the coolest I have ever seen. My 10 year old daughter is freaking out on how adorable it is. She asked me to print it out for her room.
Another thing book 5 ending made me cry big man tears. Been Married for some time now and was in the service for 9 years deployed most of it. Good hard deployments and I cried like a middle school girl whos boy friend just broke up with her. Outstanding ending. We need a book 6 please.

Love the Frontline Series have read all of the books to include “Fields of Fire”. I spent over 20 years in the Army and your books bring back the feeling of Honor and Selfless service. Thank you for writing them. On another note I also have the audio books and the narration is pure entertainment. Don’t let anyone but Luke Daniels narrate your Front Line series, and by the way the audio books are worth much more the they are selling for. You could get twice the price for them no problem. Keep up the excellent work.
I have a solution to those who demand you write faster. I’m one of them because I want more of the Frontlines series. Time Travel. Just go back and start them sooner, or if you are there, just don’t meet yourself and write the manuscript, drop it off at your place, and come back to the present. Repeat every time we demand another episode. See, problem solved.
I came across the Front Lines series by accident rather than design a couple of weeks ago and have just finished all 5 books, back to back. Great stuff, really enjoyable, can’t wait for the next installment.
Loved Fields of Fire. Please write faster.
Re: Lines of Departure, enjoyed this book as well as your others but one question. When the SRA ship is destroyed by the Lankies and reduced to “a cloud of debris vapor”, how is it that it could be “…travelling at one-quarter-g acceleration”?
Thanks, Jeffrey. I just finished that one, and came here because exactly that little glitch bothered me so much. Hope the message is received, looks like it slipped by his consult! If other readers are wondering, the cloud should be still traveling at the velocity it had when destroyed, but cannot be accelerating unless it still has engines, or is being acted upon by the gravity of some large object.
I came across Frontlines by chance and a recommendation of amazon. I just finished #3 and really really love your series. Great job!
Tried to comment on Wild Cards post; it vanished; not even posted with “to be moderated” or other message. (I have original series of comics from 1990.)
Found “Terms” at my local library and had to have all of them! They are now sitting on my bookshelf next to the George R. R. Martin. Looking forward to #5!
Just finished all four books in about a week! Really love how you made the usual sci-fi bits and pieces feel real through your protagonist’s eyes. Looking forward to digging in to book five when it comes out!
Regarding your prologue to “Chains of Command”:
How about at least a novelette on the Russians scrambling together their Orion propelled ice blocks, and then using them? I’d like to “see” that high G Orion drive missile in action.
I really enjoyed the first Iron Man film, especially the design/build/test sequences (been a test Mech Eng in both the auto and aero fields.) Georgy Dyson’s, “Project Orion: The True Story of the Atomic Spaceship,” is an interesting read. Also, if you ever wanted to play with cannon launchers, space guns (hydrogen gas guns) an interesting person to talk to is Dr. John Hunter (Super High Altitude Research Project at Lawrence Livermore Lab.) Was in contact with him for a short while, a few years back.
George Dyson rather.
Mr. Kloos, I have just finished Terms of Enlistment, and found it something I can actually relate to! I turned 18 in my second week of Air Force Basic Training, where I ended up in SAC. You’ve created a world that I believe many will be fondly reading for many years to come, especially those of us who did sign that contract. I see that you served in 1989, at this time I was out of the Air Force, and ending my first tour of the 1-109th Field Artillery, were I was a 13F. Please keep the story coming, as I said, it’s a great thing to actually understand the plot and story line.
Hi Marko,
I recently stumbled across your work on Audible. In the past week I’ve listened to all four of the Frontlines series. I can’t get enough! You do a fantastic job of moving around tropes used in previous scifi, your characters have just the right edge of military gruff (many sound like my military relatives and friends), and the narrator is fantastic! I’m not normally a fan of military space series, but I’m glad I made an exception with yours.
Hello Mr. Kloos. Please forgive the name. I am currently a writer in high school and although I have read many of your Frontlines books, I did spend some years browsing through the many selections of Space Operas and the seemingly infinite libraries of science fiction/action/aliens-vs.-humans books. As I find myself writing more and reading less, it seems that avoiding the cliches strongly reinforced by most authors can be challenging. You seem to have so many elements found in other books and media, (dropships, humans vs. overwhelming numbers of powerful aliens, colonization, space travel, Russian/Chinese faction vs. US/European faction, general HALO aesthetic), yet have created a universe that is almost perfectly individual. Too be able to write so specifically in genres already torn apart by eager authors would be a godsend and I can’t help but feel that you have created a very special world for your characters to live in. So how did you create such a universe and in what ways do you hope to continue expanding it, while avoiding the “mainstream”. Thank you for your time.
Sehr Herr Kloos,
LG

So…. Book 5? Can’t wait man, is there info at all on a possible release timeline? Even a ballpark figure?
Cheers man.
So… Terms of Enlistment. See, I thought it was a romance novel set in the army. Go figure. Cheers.
Aftershocks is really, really impressive. Can’t wait to read the rest. This has the feel of a very good ensemble cast slowly coming together. And Aden’s perspective is refreshingly different. Have enjoyed all of your previous work just as much. My son and I eagerly await each new release. Thanks for the great reads.
Wow. Had just finished Exodus by Leon Uris when Amazon recommended Terms of Enlistment. I downloaded it and could not stop reading. Have just finished it in less than 20 hours when I should have been sleeping and working in my yard, and have started Lines of Departure. As a former Marine 0311, and a retired Army 11B, I loved how you nailed the whole grunt lifestyle. Plus the references to Randy Shughart were wonderful. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
