Thank you for the Frontlines series. I started Terms of Enlistment to get a break from the Dune Universe, and got so engrossed that I stayed up until 04:00 before I just couldn’t read any longer. Based on that experience I have purchased the remainder of the series, and finished Lines of Departure last night. Wow! You really know how to suck in a reader. Your prose is great. And, the storyline is riveting. Will be back to your series as soon as I finish Sandworms of Dune. Although I was skeptical of reading a military themed book, you hooked me. Having a little trouble with the acronyms, but that’s what highlighting in Kindle is for :-). Noticed one thing in Lines of Departure that might have been a typo when you used TA where I’m sure you meant HD. Thank you for the enjoying reading to date.
I love Frontlines and I have just finished reading the excellent Aftershocks.
Waiting for more top-tier sci-fi novels and I have a nagging questions: any TV series on the horizon?
Mit freundlichen Grüßen Herr Kloos.
I just wanted to congratulate you, Marko, on your fantastic Frontlines series. I’ve never read this style of book before but I thought I’d take a chance. WOW! I’m so glad I did. Terms of enlistment had me on the edge of my seat. The Detroit riot was so well written.
You have a new fan! I’m now on book three of the series.
You writing is fantastic. Huge fan here. I’m thinking of putting myself in suspended animation so I don’t have to wait so long for your next book.
Man, I really wish you were still on twitter. It’s hard to know when your books come out.
Marko,
Love the Frontlines books – I recommend them as fun sci-fi to my coworkers and friends. Hopefully they’ll be as well regarded as The Expanse series someday and the characters you have built are very realistic and fun. Keep it up! Hope there are other great space-faring series ideas in your head for the future.

Dear Mr. Kloos,
I hope you are avoiding illness in the Upper Valley area. I am a Tuck grad from Dartmouth and see that many students were exposed to the infected Hitchcock worker!
I am finishing up an ARC of Ballistic and it is great. I will buy it in Kindle so I have it on hand for rereading as the series extends. One question about RNS ships. Is there a naming scheme other than Greek myth? The three that are just named are Bellerophon, Nike, and Circe; based on one being a hero and the others gods, I’ve assumed they are a frigate and two cruisers, but I wondered if you even think about that or just pick a name that sounds “right”? (I realize Minotaur doesn’t fit the hero framework).
Thanks and beat wishes,
Evan
In retrospect, Athena was a major goddess and is a frigate, so scrap that theory!
Hi Marko,
I am a big fan of your “Alien Wars” series (Alien wars is the german name).
I was wondering if it’s planned to publish german audiobooks for the latest parts of the series? The 4th book is the last one that was published as audibook (as far as I know…)
Your fan
Stephan
Leider hat Heyne beschlossen, die Serie nicht auf Deutsch weiterzuführen. Wir sehen uns momentan nach einem neuen Verleger in DE um, aber bis jetzt gibt es noch keine Neuigkeiten zu vermelden.
Found your blog by searching for ‘tactical minivan’, read about your jeep. Then saw you had a military sci-fi line of books, so I bought one on audible.
…and I’ve bought them all. I want more.
Wow. You’ve made me a fan. I just love your work. I can’t wait till Frontlines 7 comes out. Any ETA on that?
It will be out toward the end of the year, probably November or December. I’ll post an update once I have an exact date, but I have been assured it will be 2020.
I have been repeatedly impressed with the accuracy in which you portray military structure, characters and events. Rare even for those that served who often embellish or write of things in which they have no personal experience. By far the best example I believe is Sergeant Fallon explaining how she deals with casualties and other facts of life to the colony administrator on New Svalbard. (First several paragraphs of chapter 19, Front Lines book 2). To those that have been there no explanation need be spoken and to those that haven’t none will suffice but you sure hit the nail on the head with that one. The accuracy will perhaps allow others to better understand and brings honor to those that have been there. Well spoken my friend
I’ve really enjoyed the Frontlines series which I stumbled across on Audible and your Netflix work. I’m trying out the Palladium Wars right now.
But I am most curious: do you still have your dachshunds? The best four legged friend I ever had was a dachshund, gone now for nearly 20 years, and I still miss him.
Thanks for all the words! Keep up the good work!
Ron Booker
We have one dachshund left, and two dachshund/poodle mixes. These will be the last ones, I am afraid. We’re getting a bit too middle-aged to keep taking on 15-year animal commitments, but it will feel weird to live in a house without dachsies.
Is there ever going to be an update to Frontlines that gets the Lankies off Mars?
There will be a new Frontlines novel this year, and a new novella as well.
I watched the episode “Shape-shifters” on Netflix and I loved it ! I wanted to learn more about it and I discovered your work. I read “On The Use Of Shape -Shifters In Warfare” and I particularly liked the atmosphere and your vision of lycanthropes.
It would be great if you wanted to write the full story of Decker or the complete book on this universe with this character. I have so many questions ! How lycanthropes are born ? Can regular humans become lycanthropes ? How many are they ? Why some of them decide to risk their lives for humans ? Are there humans who appreciate them and who are real friends with them ?
I really hope you find the time and the inspiration to write a book on this subject.
Thank you in any case, I’ve really appreciate this story !
Thank you! The short story was always intended as background for a series I’d been sketching out in my head, with Decker as the main character, centering on what he chooses to do with his life after his service in the Army. I may put out some new stuff in that world this year, so stay tuned.
Hey.
I wanted to ask you where could i find the book On The Use Of Shape-Shifters In Warfare to buy.
Amazing work they did on the episode of Love Death And Robots, the characters really look like the actors that real life.
Specially Adam Bartley.
In the story and in the episode, does Decker bury Sobieski in there, or he takes him home and then buries him in the forest ?
There’s no print version, but the short story is available on the Kindle:
https://www.amazon.com/Use-Shape-Shifters-Warfare-Marko-Kloos-ebook/dp/B07PR7KKP8/ref=sr_1_2?crid=22371T39T8E7L&keywords=on+the+use+of+shape-shifters+in+warfare&qid=1569441790&sprefix=on+the+use+o%2Caps%2C144&sr=8-2
In the LD+R episode, Decker takes Sobieski out into the desert to bury him. In the original story, Sobieski goes back to the U.S. in a body bag along with everyone else who got killed that night, and Decker buries the other lycanthrope out in the desert after their fight.
Now reading Aftershock The Pallidium Wars Book 1 (which I got as a free download as part of being an Amazon prime member in the US). I am enjoying it so much that I was looking to purchase the next book in the series and noted that it would not be out until July 2020!?!?! Therefore, I will be buying and reading your Frontline novels. Please keep these great novels coming.
Hi Marko,
I really enjoyed your latest book. I can’t wait to read whatever you decide to write next. Thank you for bringing to life another series for your readers to enjoy. As always, I spent every available minute fully engrossed in your book until I was done, then spent the next few days wishing I had more to read!
Thank you,
Abraham
Hello Marko,
Just finished reading the last 5 Frontlines novels, when will the sequel to Points of Contact be out. You can’t leave the series without taking the fight to the Lankies home world. So will there be another 2 or 3 books in the near future or will the Lankies have a massive invasion of Sol and wipe out the human race for good. If that’s the case then it might be better not to know the disaster that will befall the human race. Since you have seen a glimpse of the future(ha ha)
Hi Marko,
I’m just glad you have a translator LOL. I am so waiting for this next 4-5 books to finish off the Lankies (in English, thanks). Thank you for your work it’s been awesome! David
Oh yea, drawing and maps would be awesome for those of us that listen to audio while traveling Thanks
I really have enjoyed you frontline series. I can relate a lot to Andrew I was in navel spec ops and came across a few combat controllers in my time. They were pretty great guys. I am enjoying your latest series the palladium wars and so far I have enjoyed it immensely. Thank you for the endless hours of reading and enjoyment your books have brought to me and I look forward to reading more from you you in your frontline and palladium wars series and what ever other storylines you dream up in the future.
I have enjoyed your front line series to no end. I was in naval spec war and have come across a few combat controls in my time. I am enjoying your new series the palladium wars. Your books more than meet my criteria of what a good book is and that is can I sit down with it read it loose track of time and feel really annoyed when I have to put the book down to take care of something else and your books have provided me with endless hours of reading enjoyment. Glad to see you are still working on the frontline series. I would have been so bummed if you stopped work on it but I get it also that if a story isn’t there it isn’t there. I am also looking forward to where you go with this new series. My cat and me are about 1/2 way through it (for clarification I am not a crazy cat person I do have 2 cats for companions but my orange tabby Male likes to crawl up onto my chest or lap when I am reading and stares at the pages while I read not sure what he gets out of it I asked him but has yet to answer and I am pretty sure he won’t ever answer either). Any how I digress thank you for the stories and the hours of entertainment you have provided me and i look forward to reading more of your work down the road.
Cats do talk, just ask Taylor Anderson lol. Another great series. I share your sentiments and likewise pray for inspiration to continue Front Line. I’m almost finished Points of Impact but this universe is far from over. Keep writing MK! Thank you for your universe! David
