Marko Kloos’ Frontlines Series: A Literary Critique:
Executive Summary: Frontlines is a series of romance novels masquerading as military science fiction.
Consider…
– In the 1st book Andrew and Haley hook up (if I remember correctly both in the bunk room and in the stall-free latrine; both of which are very romantic venues — or maybe not. But, as you may know from, say, your high school days: expedience and resourcefulness are the key driving forces in those spartan circumstances).
– As the series of books progresses a prevailing theme is Andrew and Haley arranging romantic rendezvous and mutual duty assignments in order to maintain their romance.
– So I figure that the whole series of books is basically a series of romance novels cast in the context of interstellar war.
– Now, the 1st book is titled “Terms of Enlistment”; but in light of the romantic aspects I outlined above, I (at least in my feeble mind) have re-titled it “Terms of Endearment”.
Conclusion: Wonderfulyl fun books.
I finished Centers of Gravity in a little over a day, and i am going to read it again. What a great ending (I hope not) to a series and what a great series.
Hey, great new book. Definitely worth reading it straight away. Gave it 5 star reviews.
I’ve got a question, does the lanky plot speed up or is it slow burn all the way for another 5 books?
The seedships being grown was foreshadowed since almost book 1 and it feels like not much is moving. Though a 3 year timeskip is a great device to move the plot forward haha.
I tried to wait, knowing full well whether I ordered Centers of Gravity now or the date it drops, it wouldn’t matter. But as scattered as I am these days, I thought I might enjoy the surprise of it suddenly dropping on the kindle at the end of August.
Regarding the rewrite of the first frontlines book; you made a timeline error in chapter 13. The new section where Grayson watches the news was added in between Grayson’s first and second encounters with Unwerth, and is two days after Unwerth’s first visit; but Chapter Fourteen still has Unwerth making the second visit the same day as the first.

Hey Marko any word DEVON TODD’s work on the Frontlines wiki?
Hey Marko is there a chance that Frontlines could get an Anime adaptation?
Hey Marko, I’ve been starting to put together some information for a Frontlines Wiki, because I know a lot of people have been asking for one, and I ran into a issue. Is lucky 13 canon from love, death and robots, or canon from the short story? Thanks
The short story is canon. The LD+R episode had to be altered a bit to fit the needs of their format and their own vision of the story.
Say if you had to compare your Battle Armour from Frontlines to any other Armour from any franchise would this be close?

That’s a little bulkier than my visual of the regular NACDC armor. The heavy assault armor may look a bit like that, though.
I just watched this Video from Österreichisches Bundesheer that explains the usage of GIS ARTA in combination with Starlink https://youtu.be/ – got a Déjà-vu and immediately thought of Andrew Graysons combat console.
Hi. Read Palladium series A,B,C. Which for me was good a nice run of reading . The big BUT when came I get D. Having followed the story so far I came to the biggest cliffhanger / brick wall / dead stop / what now since I read Mr Kring’s first novel (eg What happens when a space ship 3 miles deep in a coal seam decides to leave the story!).
When can we getting more?
Is there ever gonna be a wiki for Frontlines?
Thanks to take your time to reply . I’m really sorry for Spanish publishers. Your way of writing and your creativity is completely out of scale. You’re AMAZING Marko .
P.D. : As I don’t believe in stupid questions I have to ask you this.
It’s not possible for you to hire someone, preferably a graduate, or a student, in Spanish philology or something like that, to translate the book and auto publish it at least on Kindle ?
It’s so easy to promote and sell nowadays. You already did the hardest thing which is write a few bestsellers .
Just to correct my last comment. It had a lot of emojis, they disappeared when posted and the comment looks like faulty (>_<)
So… I have to be honest, I came here only to
complain
Whyyyyy ?
Why don’t you have your books translated to
Spanish?!!!
I can’t find them even on kindle.
So sad
I’ve read Paladium wars and two or three of Frontline. But seriously, my English is not good enough to enjoy the reading. I understand the phrases but sometimes I miss the point.
Come on, Spanish readers community is huge. Is good business to you . A little advice, if you translated to Spanish, do it in European Spanish, because it doesn’t have slang ( which is annoying), and another detail, choose wisely your publisher, lately I’ve seen tremendous disasters in translation of English books to Spanish.
Greetings and best wishes from Spain.
P.D.: Come here sometime and I’ll invite you to some tapas y cañas
They’re not in Spanish yet because we haven’t been approached for the translation rights by any Spanish publisher, sorry to say.
I’m with Christina – have just finished the third of Palladium Wars reading them back to back late at night. Please tell me another one is coming out soon! You can’t leave Aden in jail or Idina deciding on a new job!
Hello
I just finished the third or Palladium Wars. Please tell me another one is coming out soon!
I think it could fly. It is quite original in its details. Broadly, it’s got a little ‘Space: Above and Beyond’ in it, and maybe some Starship Troopers, just from the basic storyline of mankind achieving interstellar travel, going out and thinking we’re all alone out there, and then one day we run into an alien species that essentially wages war against us.
I’ve been reading and rereading the frontlines series, and I want to know if you have any ideas of making the series into either a collection of feature length films or a television series. The work you did one a couple of LDR shorts for Netflix was amazing.
