The most enjoyable words for a writer to read are “Pay To The Order Of…”, and the most enjoyable words for a writer to put down on the page are “THE END”.
I’ve been quiet on here because I’ve spent the last few weeks finishing BALLISTIC, the second book in the Palladium Wars series. But it’s turned in, and once the edits are done, it will make its way through the production line for its scheduled July 2020 release.
I took the holiday weekend off, but now I am back at my desk working on FRONTLINES #7. That’s right, friends and neighbors. It’s in the works, so you can stop emailing me to ask about it. (“Is there going to be a #7?” and “When is the next Frontlines coming out?” make up about 90% of the messages I receive from readers.)
For the release of AFTERSHOCKS, the PR team had me scheduled for a lot of radio interviews, and I find that I enjoy doing those a lot. They only take 15-30 minutes out of my day, and I can do them in my PJs if I want, so that’s easy to fit into the schedule.
Next up will be the Frontlines novella I’ve threatened to release for months now. It kept getting shunted to the back of the line by various other obligations, but now I’ll finally be able to finish it. It takes place concurrently with the events in Frontlines #6, “Points of Impact”, and centers on a character you haven’t met yet. As soon as that one is available for purchase, I’ll make an announcement here on the blog, probably in the next week or two.
I appreciate your hard work and excellent writing abilities. I have bought no fewer that 3 frontlines series to give away, one to my favorite library. I hide my own copies….you know personally how when a grunt finds something of great excellence, he shares, but he also secures…..
Looking forward to #7 intensely! Best wishes at Camp Frostbite.
Thank you! #7 will be out in 2020 sometime, but I don’t have a firm release date yet. I will update everyone as soon as I know.
love your books! Are you doing any kind of appearance/promotion tour? Thanks
There’s a chance I may do NYC Comic Con this year, but otherwise I had to cut my con appearances short.
Hello Marko,
I read earlier when you were starting to write Aftershocks, that you really wanted to write 2 books a year, you thought that was doable. Now you have finished Ballistic, have you found whether that plan is working or not? I would love 2 space books a year from you, but am satisfied getting one good one. Some writers can do more, some fewer. I just want good ones to read the most, quality over quantity! Thanks for your good ones.
It’s going to be working out to at least two books a year. I’ll have Frontlines #7 finished by the end of the year. This year has just been a little rough because I’ve had to retool my entire writing process while hosting family for an extended period.
Wait… there’s more. Thoroughly enjoying and sucked into the first Palladium book. And of course waiting for #7.
Just a little surprised that a book you submitted in early September of 2019 won’t go into production until August 2020. I thought it (every aspect of the industry) moved much faster.
Heh. 47North is lightning fast compared to the rest of the industry. I’ve seen three-year spans between submitting a manuscript and publication date.
Fantastic news! As a small business owner, I can relate to how you feel about “Pay to the order of…” but as a reader and fan I’m overjoyed to hear that you have recently written “the end,” at least a time or two. Looking forward to book two of Palladium and am overjoyed to hear that we will once again learn more about humanity and the Lankies. All the best from Yorktown.
