I made it for over a week after Scotland and all the attendant travel, but it looks like the Worldcon COVID wave has finally caught up with me. (My wife tested positive on the weekend and has been mildly sick ever since, so I knew it would only be a matter of time.)
The weird thing is that I tested negative all week including just yesterday. Alas, this isn’t the first time for me, so I’ll do what I did before–get Paxlovid, take it easy, and drink lots of water. I feel fine right now, and if this round is like the last one, I’ll feel a little crappy for two days and then be mostly fine for the rest of the week.
My wife and I came down with it about a month ago now. She is over it and I am testing negative but the Covid put me into Atrial-fibrillation and that just wants to hang on. No fun.
I hope you get a mild bout, and that both of you recover to full health quickly.
Hey, I’m in my 70’s and had it twice, once back in Feb. 2020 when it was hell and one other time, it’s a flu, it sucks, and they you get better.
Read a good book while you’re laying around!

Hope you and your wife feel better soon – take care of yourselves!
Good luck! I’ve had it four times and this latest, six weeks ago, was different. Short sharp symptoms which abated in 48 hours. But lingering nasal congestion and body aches continue through today. Other I know who have contracted in this cycle have had mixed outcomes – some easy and some with continuing symptoms. Don’t try and be active too quickly would be my advice. Feel better.
Oh my! Sure hope you and your wife feel better soon.
Sounds like you have it under control and know what to do for minimum downtime, but you’re not alone right now. Same issues here, daughter away at college (tested positive in first week) and a more elderly aunt and uncle. That’s just direct family. A lot (lot, lot…) more distant relatives and friends and coworkers. It’s a spike, the news wasn’t exaggerating.
I’m sorry you and your wife are ill. Hopefully it’ll be a minor case.
Regarding Paxlovid, I really hope you’re not one of the few who experience its “horribly bad taste in the mouth” side effect. I was unlucky enough to experience that, and I will never, ever use the drug again. I’d rather be sicker for longer. It was that bad.
